The Old village of Bishopstoke lies on the River Itchen. The western Parish Boundary for the most part lies through the water meadows. To the south of the village the land is flat and largely arable with but on footpath for recreational access. To the north the land is more undulating and wooded with far more opportunity for access. To the east of the village there lies Stoke Park Wood, through which lay several bridleways and footpaths.
A map of the public rights of way network in the Parish can be found on the back of the four Parish notice boards. Public rights of way (footpaths, bridleways and byways) are depicted on Ordnance Survey maps which are readily available from good stationers, out-door and camping shops and the Ordnance Survey online shop. You can also view a map section online for free!!
Plan a walk - long or short; there and back or circular. Walk the Itchen navigation tow path to Winchester or Southampton and get the train home. Take a picnic to the water meadows up by Lords Wood by walking down through Breach Sling Copse. Take the path from the River Inn and head towards West Horton Farm. Figure out a circular walk around Stoke Park Woods - especially in spring when some parts are carpeted with bluebells. Bishopstoke is no bad place to be.
