| There are fourteen Parish councillors, elected every four years. The council and its committees meet several times a month on Tuesdays at the Methodist Church, Sedgwick Road. |

| Bishopstoke, surrounded by woods and farm land on the eastern side of the Itchen Valley, has a long history, being mentioned when King Alfred's grandson King Eadred, granted land at "Stohes" to one Thegn Aelfric in 948 A.D.
